Recruiting in Cyberspace

Apologies to Chiara Fox, it seems I misread the Adaptive Path blog entry that I am referencing here. PeopleSoft didn’t use Bolt|Peters for recruiting in Second Life, instead they used their services elsewhere. It was when Adaptive Path worked on the Second Life project that they decided to do their own recruiting.
Again my apologies, I misread the article! But the point I was trying to make is still valid.
I was reading this really interesting article that chronicles a company’s attempt to use cyberspace to conduct their business.
The company I am speaking of is PeopleSoft and they were using Second Life to gather people to use for their studies. At first they were skeptical of the idea, but they were approached by the good people at Bolt|Peters, an user experience company, and got offered their recruiting services. PeopleSoft took on this opportunity since they were being provided the hardest element of user studies … the users.
Everything was going well until they decided to try recruiting on their own and failed miserably. Since they really hadn’t done it before, they didn’t know what they were getting into. The company took a big chance in putting their eggs in such a big basket but in the long run it worked out for them.
Read about their experience by visiting the Adaptive Path blog.
What does this have to do with findability? Nothing really. I found it interesting that Second Life is getting so big that people are beginning to see different opportunities in it.
